Legal battle over James Brown’s estate settled

Legal battle over James Brown’s estate settled
The legal battle between the family of the late soul legend, James Brown and his widow, Tomi Rae has ended. US judge Jack Early decreed that Rae would get a quarter of Brown’s fortune and assets, a quarter would be given to his six children, while the remaining half would go to a charitable trust.
The singer died on December 25 in 2006. Rae and Brown’s family had been battling over his assets ever since. Brown was not thought to have left much money behind, but royalties from his songs are set to be big earners in the future for those who gained a share in the judgment. “I am so relieved and happy that the court has approved this settlement,” Tae said. “I want to be able to work with the trustees and other Brown family members to promote James Brown’s legacy.”
Deanna Brown, the singer’s daughter, said: “It has been a struggle, but God has blessed us and we are thankful. We look forward to working towards the goals of our father by providing education scholarships for impoverished students and his own grandchildren and making his home a museum for the world to come and see.”
