We Are Remembering Those Who Died In Dana Plane Crash Today

One year later, we remember the Dana Air victims who lost their lives in one of the most tragic accidents in the history of air transport in Nigeria.
  • The Dana Air crew members who had as usual resumed that day for work,
  • The poor victims on board the ill fated Dana plane who were in high spirits when they boarded that flight and bade their loved ones farewell,
  • Then the innocent ones who were going about their business at the crash site.
Their lives were tragically cut short after Dana aircraft, marked J9 992, took off from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja on the 3rd of June, 2012 and crashed at Iju Ishaga on the outskirts of Lagos.
All 153 people on board, and an unknown number on the ground, were killed.

To mark the one year remembrance of the crash, the Federal Government said it would unveil a cenotaph in their memory on Monday (today).
FG also instituted an annual aviation safety programme which will be observed from June 3, 2013, and will be done every year in honour of the victims.

It was a huge tragedy. May their souls continue to rest in peace.
