Super Eagles refused to train Yesterday, 'No Pay, No Training'

Bia Super Eagles make una no carry me play ooh, anyways until una lose for this Monday match first.

According to a BBC report earlier today, Super Eagles players reportedly missed a scheduled training session yesterday after a disagreement with officials of the National Football Federation over bonus money. BBC Sports reports confirmed that the players believe they are each $15,000 (£8,800) short of what they were expecting for reaching the last 16 in Brazil.
The players refused to train in Campinas on Thursday and NFF officials later confirmed the session had been cancelled.

From BBC
BBC Sport has learned the problem lies in the interpretation of the bonus structure, with the players believing they will only receive $10,000 for their win 1-0 over Bosnia-Hercegovina and $5,000 for the 0-0 draw with Iran.

The players' understanding was they would receive a $30,000 payment for qualifying from the group.  However, it is believed the Nigerian Football Federation's offer to the players includes the agreed win and draw bonuses plus 30% of the prize money due from Fifa for reaching the knockout stage.

This is understood to rise to 40% of the prize money from Fifa if Nigeria were to win their round of 16 match, 50% for a quarter-final victory, 60% for a win in the semi-final stage and 70% for lifting the trophy.

While all parties work to find a resolution to the misunderstanding, coach Stephen Keshi has insisted it will not affect the team's performance.

And it has been confirmed to the BBC that the players will travel to Brasilia on Friday as scheduled and will train in the evening and over the weekend.

Governor Amaechi released, but plane remains impounded in Ondo

Soldiers hold Governor Rotimi Amaechi hostage in Ondo state
The Rivers state Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, who was barred from travelling to Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, for a political rally and then detained for over an hour by a detachment of soldiers, has been released.
“They have finally released him and he is currently on his way to Akure airport,” an aide of the governor said in response to PREMIUM TIMES enquiry. “But as he travelled, the soldiers are following him behind.”
After the governor arrived the airport in Akure, he found that his plane had been impounded. “He is currently stranded in Akure and it is not clear whether he and his entourage will be able to secure space in a commercial plane.”
The Rivers State Government had issued a statement saying Mr. Amaechi, was arrested and held hostage by security operatives in Odudu, Ondo state.
The governor, the statement said, was arrested as he made his way to Ado-Ekiti for a political rally by his Ekiti State counterpart, Kayode Fayemi.
Read full statement below.
The Rivers State Government is concerned about the safety of Governor Amaechi who is right now being held hostage commando style by soldiers and federal government security agents in Odudu, Ondo state.
Governor Amaechi as Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ forum and as an APC governor and chieftain had left Port Harcourt this morning for Ekiti state where he was to join his brother governor in his last mega rally before the elections.
Governor Amaechi was ambushed and refused entry into Ekiti by military personnel acting on orders from above. He made to turn back and return to Akure where his chattered aircraft was parked but was chased and rounded by armed soldiers and security personnel in Odudu, Ondo state. According to the captain who led the operation, he had orders not to allow the governor entry or exit.
In the meantime, the chattered aircraft that conveyed he governor has been grounded while the minsters of Defence, police Affairs and Minister of state for Defence have landed at the Akure airport.
The Rivers State government is especially worried that Federal government and President Jonathan have singled out Governor Amaechi for harassment and attack.
While we hold the person and office of the President in utmost regards, we believe that it is unacceptable that the presidency would disrespect the person and office of an elected governor of a federating unit and consistently hound him.
The Rivers state government is all more worried as Ondo saga is coming on the heels of a plot by six PDP lawmakers this morning to carry out a kangaroo impeachment of the duly elected governor of Rivers State, Rt. Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, con first at Krisdara hotels and later Bauchi street, Port Harcourt.
Ordinarily such banality should be ignored as it is neither legal nor constitutional. However in the light of the recent attempts to hoist a Chief Judge on Rivers people through the back door and the attendant rumours that the reason for that desperate act was to make it easier for the PDP to actualize its sinister daydream of ousting Governor Amaechi before May 29, 2015, we believe that it has become necessary to draw the attention of Rivers people, Nigerians and the international community to the situation in Rivers State.
Only yesterday, in preparation for this tragicomedy, the Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) accused Governor Amaechi of importing terrorists into the state and the region. They continued their diatribe by demanding that the governor of Rivers State be put under surveillance. The State Government wouldn’t have dignified the PDP’s display of ignorance with a response but for the fact that these accusations coupled with today’s actions are omniuos signs of how far the PDP is willing to go in its quest to cling onto power by all means.

PHOTO: Baby allegedly dies in church after dedication

A witness to the sad incident sent me the story…but I am going to leave out the name of the church and the pastor who dedicated the baby, because I haven’t been able to verify the authenticity of the story, but the person who sent it to me swears this happened. Her story below…
“The story is about a couple who attends a church around the IPO axis in Lagos. The name of the Church is (name withheld) opposite the MTN mast in Baruwa around Ipaja area of Lagos State. The Pastor whose name is (name withheld) dedicated a baby on sunday 1st June, 2014 and the baby (pictured above) died right there in the church.
It was an unusual thing to have seen a pastor dedicating a baby without carrying the baby on his hand. What the Pastor did was to sprinkle oil and he prayed without even touching the baby. When someone who was invited by the couple, Godwin and Amaka Mark asked them why the pastor wasn’t carrying the baby, they stated that it was a norm in that church for babies to be dedicated in that manner.
Soon after the benediction, the Pastor disappeared from the church and when the parents of the dead baby realized that their child was no more breathing, they called the pastor on his mobile phone.
The pastor refused to come back to the church stating that he had already taken off his clothes. He was further told that the baby which he had just dedicated was dead and his response was, “it is well”!
The bereaved parents had to go and bury their dead child with the assistance of the invited guests.

Boko Haram Kidnap 20 Women Near Chibok

Suspected Islamist gunmen abducted about 20 women from a nomadic settlement near the northeastern Nigerian town of Chibok where more than 200 schoolgirls were kidnapped two months ago, a local official said.
The ethnic Fulani women were taken after the assailants attacked a settlement known as Garkin Fulani at midday yesterday and ordered the women into their vehicles at gunpoint, Alhaji Tar, a member of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, said in a phone interview. They were driven off to an unknown location, he said.
“We got the information that they went there and took away the women at the time none of the males were there,” Tar said. “The three young men they met there could not help the women, as the gunmen also ordered the three of them to enter the Hilux vans and took all of them away.”
Boko Haram, the Islamist militant group whose insurgency against Nigeria’s government has killed thousands of people over the past five years, abducted more than 200 girls from a school in Chibok in April. The U.S. and U.K. sent teams to Nigeria to help the government find the schoolgirls, and Israel and France have pledged assistance.
Calls to Borno Police Commissioner Lawal Tanko’s mobile phone didn’t connect when Bloomberg sought comment on the latest attack.

Cashless Policy Begins Nationwide July 1

The apex bank had in January 2012 rolled out a pilot scheme of the programme in Lagos state. This was followed by Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Rivers and Anambra states.
The CBN in a memo to the money deposit banks signed by the director banking and payment system department, Dipo Fatokun, urged the retail banks tocommence enlightenment of their customers on the policy in the remaining 31 states on the existing limits on cash withdrawals and deposits for individuals and corporate bodies as well as the available e-payment options.
It further directed that bank staff in the affected states should be trained on the policy in order to provide answers to enquiries, give useful advice and handle issues and complaints on the policy.
The CBN also advised banks to engage their key customers and other stakeholders on the importance of the policy.
Before now some banks had notified their customers on the charges on both cash withdrawals and deposits.

Family forces Christ Embassy Pastor to Marry Dead Daughter(Pictured)

The family of a 28-year-old woman, Vivian Ndukwu, has demanded that the marriage rites of their late daughter must be performed by a pastor of the Christ Embassy, who has been accused of being responsible for the pregnancy that allegedly led to her death.Punch reports

It was gathered that the 29-year-old pastor, identified simply as Hillary, was being detained at the State Criminal Investigations Department, Yaba, Lagos. He was accused by the family to have had a secret romantic relationship with the deceased, who was a choir member in the church.

It was said that in order to avoid scandals, the couple decided to keep the relationship a secret. The secret romance continued until Vivian became pregnant.

When it became obvious that they could no longer keep the pregnancy a secret, Vivian was said to have agreed with Hillary that she should relocate to Agbara town in Ogun State to stay with a woman who had an orphanage.

Vivian allegedly told her parents that she was going to Abuja. She stayed at the orphanage until she was delivered of a baby girl on May 3, 2014.It was learnt that eight days after the delivery of the baby, Vivian was taken to a hospital after she complained of fever and headache.

She eventually died, while her remains had been taken to the Badagry General Hospital morgue. The owner of the orphanage, Mrs. Grace Kato, however, claimed that Vivian never stayed at her place.

She said,
“Vivian called me three days after the birth of her baby. She said she wanted me to help her with the hospital bills, that she was stranded in the hospital. Out of compassion, I went to the hospital to help.”
She admitted that she took Vivian home after delivery to rest at her place for two days before returning to her parents. She added that Vivian, however, ended up staying at her place for five days before she died.
She said,
“I brought her to my house to rest for a day or two before taking her to her parents. In the process, I had to travel for my uncle’s burial. That was why she stayed that long because she was waiting for me to return. I came back on Saturday night, May 10, and the next day, she complained of a slight headache and we took her to another hospital nearby. That was where she died.”
The hospital where Vivian was said to have died, claimed that she was rushed to the hospital unstable and restless.

According to a doctor in the hospital, the people on duty stabilised her condition and referred her to a general hospital.

The source, who preferred to remain anonymous, said,
“She was brought in on May 11, at about 1.20pm, unstable and restless. The story was that her complaint started that morning. Her blood pressure was also high. Being that we were not in possession of her past medical records, we acted based on clinical situation and referred her to a general hospital. The people that brought her left and so there was no one to take her to where she had been referred to hours after stabilising her condition. Several calls to the number they gave us were replied with one story or the other. At some point, the lady started gasping, and eventually died. It was not until the following day that they came to pick up her remains.”
The father of the deceased, Emmanuel Ndukwu, told our correspondent on the telephone that the orphanage founder had agreed with her late daughter to take custody of the child after delivery without the consent of the family.
He said he and his wife knew nothing about the pregnancy, adding that his daughter left his house and told the family that she was going to Abuja.
He said,
“After telling us that she was going to Abuja, we did not hear from her until her death. But we later learnt that Grace (orphanage owner) and her husband had organised a naming ceremony for the new baby without informing us.
Emmanuel said he was not aware of the relationship between the pastor and his daughter until the sad incident.

He said,
“My family and the pastor’s family have met and we agreed that Hillary will perform all the marriage rites for my late daughter according to the tradition of our people. We are doing this because a child is involved. The pastor did not deny his responsibility, so the normal thing must be done.”
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, confirmed Vivian’s death and added that the matter was still under investigation.
