Twins with two heads on two separate necks born In Cape Coast Referred To Korle Bu

The conjoined twins who were born at the Cape Coast Metropolitan Hospital and transferred to the Central Regional Hospital have now been referred to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra for further medical observation.

X-ray images which have been shown to Graphic Online indicates that the twins have two heads on two separate necks, they have one big heart and separate spines with separate stomachs.

Their spines are however merging together at a point.With one waist they also have one female genital organ, one anus and two legs.

According to information gathered at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of the hospital, the family claims they do not have money to do the follow-up.

The Administrator of the Central Regional Hospital, Mr. Yaw Adjei Frimpong would not give further comments when pressed except to say that he was only an administrator and does not know anything about the surgical aspect.

It was established that the age of the mother of the twins is 15 years and not 16 as previously reported.

The mother who was traumatised after the birth has been receiving counseling from psychologists.

The twins are currently doing well.
