TUFACE IDIBIA, WIZKID,OTHERS ENTERTAIN AMSTEL MALTA SHOWTIME FINAL

The stars, made up of Tuface Idibia, Wizkid and laughter merchant I Go Dye, turned up to entertain the audience made up largely of students of tertiary institutions at the conclusion of the Lagos edition of Amstel Malta Showtime.
The unique variety show from the stables of the Nigerian Breweries PLC makers of premium low-sugar malt drink, Amstel Malta, also featured a surprise appearance from Nollywood superstar, Funke Akindele of the Jenifa fame as she teamed up with wizkid to re-enact the video of Wizkid’s hit track, Pakurumo.
The Lagos Show was the fourth and final leg of this year’s Amstel Malta Showtime series and there was certainly a high degree of expectation surrounding the event.
Stars like Naeto C, Flavour, P Square, 9ice and Tiwa Sawage had headlined previous events in Benin, Port Harcourt and Ibadan earlier in the year. The Lagos gig was billed to be the grand finale for 2012 and the event did not disappoint.
When Wizkid stepped on the stage to do his thing, there was hardly a member of the audience on their seats as they danced and sang to Wizkid’s songs. Hit tracks like Pakurumo, Dance For me, Azonto, Love my baby, Holla at your boy, Tease me and other songs were rendered by the talented artiste, much to the delight of the crowd.
At a point, Wizkid seemed to be distracted by the antics of one of the cameramen during the performance.  To the surprise of every one present, the “cameraman” turned out to be none other than Nigeria’s biggest music export, Tuface Idibia. The surprise appearance of Tuface, whose presence was initially hidden by the grey hooded sweatshirt, turned out to be one of the high points of the event.
Not one to be outdone by Wizkid, the Benue State-born entertainer held the crowd hostage as he took them through a medley of his songs, like If Love Is A Crime, No Bi Small Thing, For Instance, True Love and others.  However, the pick of the pack was his rendition of African Queen during which Tuface offered a rose to a lucky lady amongst the audience.
The night also featured rib cracking comedy from top comedian I Go Dye.  He was certainly in his elements and the audience simply could not get enough of him.
Precious Eliogu, Righteous Otserioluwa and Lilian Ebohon, students of Imo State University, IMSU, University of Lagos and Lagos State University, respectively, all slugged it out in the dancing competition. While she put up a commendable performance, Lilian Ebohon clearly fell short of the audience expectation. She was voted the second runner up while Eliogu Precious emerged as the first runner up. Waist-twisting Righteous Otserioluwa emerged as the winner of the dancing competition.
The battle for best comedian was even more intense. Olivia Onyia, from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, the only female comedian among the lot, certainly did not stand a chance before Emmanuel Jibunoh and Kenneth Chinedu, both from the University of Lagos and Lagos State University respectively.
Both comedians were so impressive that it was clearly a difficult task for the audience to separate the winner from the first runner up. But a winner had to be crowned and the audience finally decided on Kenneth Chinedu.
Finally, the last competition of the day, the music category had Obinna Michael, Peace Iliodior and the Hassan twins, Taiye and Kehinde vying for the main prize in this category. Obinna Michael was the very first performer of the night and he simply won the hearts of the audience. The Hassan twins had to settle for second place while Peace Ihiondior was the second runner up.
The winners in all the categories got the whooping sum of N500, 000, a brand new ipad while the first and second runners up got the sum of N150, 000 and N100, 000 respectively. After the competitions, Kenneth Chinedu joined I Go Dye in dishing out rib cracking comedy to the audience. Righteous Otserioluwa was not let out as he joined ace dance group, Corporate Dance World, CDW, in thrilling the audience with scintillating dance steps.  THUMBS UP GUYS
