Guys you know i have been keeping you posted about this,  this one happened today- A Human Rights group, the Youth and Conflict Resolution Initiatives, YCRI, has called for the immediate sack of the Rivers State commissioner of police for his inability to coordinate the fallout of the cruel massacre of four Nigerian students in Aluu, Rivers state.
The group also described the statement credited to the Inspector -General of Police, IGP that his men were chased with stones by the mob , as dressing the force in the robe of innocence while criminalizing the entire Aluu community.
Speaking from London, the International Relations Officer of YCRI, Efemena Agadama, said “there is no justification for the commissioner of police not to have been sacked for failing to coordinate his men before, during and after the murder of the said University of Port Harcout students.
How do you explain to the world that men of the Nigeria Police were there and could not save any of the victims? How could the police say there was no reinforcement for over two hours? This just reaffirms our struggle for state police. The long chain of command of the Nigeria police is useless when safety and security of lives and property are at stake. They don’t care except to make the police station look like a bank, and market.”
While commending the police on the number of arrests so far made , Agadama  however, tasked the IGP Mohammed Abubakar to jettison his fruitless efforts to cover up the mess by the Rivers state police command and punish the command for its negligence to duty so as to serve as example to others. “Some police chiefs from DPO to the commissioner should be out of the force either by resignation or forced retirement to act as deterrence. Lives are worth more than position of authorities.”
According to the Rights activist,  the police should share in the blame by retiring very senior police officers who were part of the failure and stop searching for erroneous excuses for publicity stunt.  He also called on the police hierarchy to  make an in-depth investigation to unravel those who were there, who they called, and those who slept while the murder was being celebrated by the culprits.
