Prominent South African actress Lesego Motsepe best known as ‘Letti Matabane’ on MNET soap ‘Isidingo’ has passed away.
Motsepe was living with HIV until she passed on yesterday Monday January 20, 2014 at the age of 39 years.
Multiple media reports say she was found dead at her home in Randburg, South Africa by her brother, Moemise. Paramedics confirm she died of natural causes.
Motsepe announced that she had been living with HIV since 1998, on World AIDS Day in 2011 - 13 years after she contacted the virus.
Up until her death, she was part of a non-profit organisation, Afrikarize, which creates new conversations on HIV/AIDS as well as tackles socio-economic challenges facing the youth.
Motsepe, who played the character Letti between 1998 and 2008, said that she wasn’t really shocked when she found out she was HIV-positive 13 years ago. This was because she had been working as an Aids ambassador for years, using puppets to teach children about the virus.
