“My Husband Isn’t Dead” – Ireti Ajanaku’s Wife, Joy

In August 2013, Nigerians woke up to the news of Prophet Ireti Ajanaku’s death. But months after, his wife, Pastor (Mrs) Joy Ajanaku, has said her husband is still alive. In this excerpted interview with City People, Joy talks about her new role at her husband’s  Christ Revival Victory Chapel international.
Read it below:

Why did you take up the role as pastor in your husband’s church?
I took that step because my husband is a man that has faced the same set of people who he had managed for many years, but turned around to say stupid things about him.I took that bold step to fight my battle to the last. So many people came to me that they wanted to take charge of the house of God. They said many sweet things to me but I felt that means I am denying my husband. That’s why I took that bold step, not because of material things. Even when I wanted to take it up, many people came to me,”Mummy you can’t do this alone”, but if I put it in the hands of people, it means I am denying my husband and I am saying God is not powerful again. It means I am preferring fake to original. I can never deny him. So I have the boldness to tell the world.
What do you want to tell the world about your husband?
To those saying my husband is dead, I am telling them that they are talking out of ignorance. They are not spiritual and it is only spiritual people that will understand what is happening right away. It is a sin to say bad things against men of God and I am a living experience that he is not dead. Whenever I call upon his God, he answers me. A lot of people have lots of testimonies. So I am telling them not to ever refer to him as a dead Prophet Elijah Ireti Ajanaku.I leave them to God if they do that. At the appropriate time, they will know the truth about the whole issue. Even before this death rumour, I remembered he told the large congregation that he will cause commotion and the whole world will come to look for him. When it happened, we all knew my Daddy said so. This is the commotion he talked about but I know God will vindicate him.
