African beauty queens flop at Miss Universe 2013

Not one African beauty queen participating in the Miss World Universe 2013 made it to round 16 at the beauty pageant which took place on November 9, 2013.
The pageant which held at Crocus City Hall in Moscow, Russia was won by Gabriela Isler from Venezuela, with runners up Patricia Yurena Rodriguez from Spain finishing second and Constanza Baez from Ecuador as third.
The 16 semi-finalists included Costa Rica, Ukraine, China, Ecuador, Great Britain, Indonesia, Venezuela, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Spain, USA, Nicaragua, Switzerland, India, Brazil, and The Philippines.
Nigeria was represented by 19-year-old Stephanie Okwu who came second in the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria 2013 pageant. The Imo-born, 6’1 tall beauty queen is an undergraduate of the University of Lagos.
