I
decided to hush a bit and watch the drama go on between the Federal
Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities. The drama
although comical, looks like its not going to end (God forbid o).
All
the meetings between both parties have not been yielding positive
results. The news is still in the same direction as it was the last time
I visited this issue apart from the several gists we are been fed with
by FG but have been proven to be lies by ASUU.
It is funny to me because I can’t imagine the Federal government of Nigeria through its minister of Finance saying that they can’t afford to pay the 97billion demanded for by ASUU and so they should continue with the strike, then the same Federal government came out and said they disbursed 30billion to these lecturers (Hmmm somebody lied abi?).
The Union through its President confirmed that this is not a time for negotiation as against the method adopted by Governor Suswam’s led FG team but that this strike is calling for the implementation of the resolution of the 2009 meeting. We are in 2013 – Go Figure.
Clearly, the wait continues…
