Poisoned Baby Drug 'My Pikin' Makers Jailed!

Poison in a bottle
Two officials from the company which made the 'My Pikin' syrup that caused the deaths of at least 80 children have been sentenced to seven years in prison.

The company, Barewa Pharmaceutical Company Ltd had produced the adulterated teething medicine which was found to contain engine coolant after babies started dying after taking the drug in 2008.
It caused the babies' kidneys to fail.

The judge found them guilty and ordered that the company be closed and its assets forfeited to the state.

Meanwhile, a constitutional lawyer, Fred Agbaje who frowned at the 7years imprisonment passed on the producers of the 'my pikin' teething mixture, has proposed a 25year imprisonment or live sentence for manufacturers of adulterated drugs in the country
