Yesterday, i published a post about an 80 year old woman accused of being a flying witch bird.She was saved from lynching by the police.(Here).Her sons have surfaced and she is not a witch but got missing.She wandered off from their Iju Ishaga home some days ago and her family had been looking for her.They were shocked to see her in the newspapers..
A policeman told Punch

“This morning two men came to the command claiming that they were the sons of the woman. The men said their mother was not a witch and were very angry with the manner the rumour was spreading. They said they were shocked that youths could attack an old woman in her 80s and they were even asking for justice because the woman sustained bruises on her head.”

Yes she has been released to her son. The family said due to her old age, she was very ill and was brought from Ibadan to Lagos to stay with one of her sons. The woman’s daughter-in-law said she went to buy drugs for her nearby, but by the time she returned home, the woman had left the house.”

Oh well!! It seems controversial Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh had something to say about the whole Adaeze Yobo and her husband's alleged mistress' faceoff  on Instagram today. While she did not make any direct refernce to her, it is too much of a coecidence that she retweeted a post about couples pretending to be lovey dovey in public barely a few hours after the ugly drama went down.

Funeral Plans For Nollywood Producer, Amaka Igwe

Nollywood producer and filmmaker, Amaka Igwe, will be buried on Friday, June 13th 2014 at Ndiuche, Arondizuogu in Imo State, her marital home. Amaka passed away on the 28th of April 2014. She is survived by her husband and 3 children.

Various events have been lined up before the burial proper. They include; A tribute evening and Lagos Service of Songs at Haven Gardens G.R.A Ikeja on the 9th of June, and Enugu Service of Songs at Okpara Square, Enugu on the 12th of June, 2014.
May her soul rest in peace.

BOKO HARAM SET TO BE SANCTIONED BY UN

A decision will be taken Thursday.

The Nigerian government has formally asked the United Nations Security Council to blacklist the extremist group, Boko Haram.
Nigeria urged the Security Council al Qaeda sanctions committee to recognize the group as a terrorist organization, indicating a further raise in the government’s effort to root the group.
The move comes days after President Goodluck Jonathan asked for wider international sanctions against the group.

At the Paris security summit Saturday, Mr. Jonathan called for efforts to outlaw the group that is responsible for thousands of deaths since 2009.

“At the international level, we should take concrete steps to designate the Al Qaeda in West Africa, alias Boko Haram, as a Terrorist Organisation on the basis of the Proscription Order that my government has already imposed on the organisation,” the president said.
“We should also accelerate the implementation of other international sanctions, particularly under the auspices of the United Nations, on Boko Haram, Ansaru and their principal leaders.”
The Nigerian government has filed the application for the U.N. to outlaw the group, news Reuters agency quoted a diplomatic source as saying Tuesday.

Such sanctions will, amongst other measures, require all countries under the U.N. charter to freeze
financial assets and economic resources of Boko Haram members and its leaders.
The countries will also be required to impose travel ban and an arms embargo on the group, its members and sponsors.
The Nigerian government had largely refused to seek broad international assistance against the group until the abduction of more than 250 schoolgirls in Chibok, Borno State.
The kidnapping sparked global outrage. The United States, United Kingdom, France and Israel have sent specialist teams to Nigeria to help rescue the girls. They are also providing intelligence and surveillance.
Reuters’ report says if there is no objection by the 15-member council committee, which operates by consensus, Boko Haram will be sanctioned at 7 p.m. Thursday

An accident involving 7 vehicles occurred about 9:30 am this morning 22/5/2014 along the gwarinpa axis of Abuja.

According to eyewitness the accident was caused by dangerous over-taking, the first vehicle tried overtaking without having a clear view, other vehicles folloWed in anticipation but the driver of the first car lost control on seeing an on-coming vehicle, other vehicle that followed struggled to scamper to safety but couldn’t,  resulting to the accident.

No life was lost but people involved sustained varying degree of injury as at time of this report.

The #BringBackOurGirls protests are getting more intense all across Nigeria.

Earlier today, BN reported that a group of protesters were staging peaceful demonstrations at the Abuja Presidential Villa. And now, according to several reports, all government-owned primary and secondary schools across Nigeria have been closed all day today as part of #BringBackOurGirls protests.

Michael Olukoya, president of the Nigeria Union of Teachers gave the directive, stating that all members of the union are to hold  rallies concurrently today in all the 36 states of the country and Abuja.

"Ibinabo is an ex-convict and not fit to lead the AGN"-Clarion Chukwurah fires back

Last week, Ibinabo Fiberisima fired back at Clarion for accusing her of collecting a political appointment and more..She said Clarion was being hysterical and picking cheap points in her attempt to destabilize the AGN..Not one to back down,Clarion has fired back in a interview with Punch..She calls her an ex convict and a lair about her age..

“I am not on the same level with Ibinabo Fibresima professionally, educationally or in any other form. I find that she is deliberately misleading the public and wanting to push the issues at stake under the table with her so-called open letter. I will not allow her to do that.Item ‘U’ of the electoral guideline of AGN disqualified her. No convicted person can stand for election in any post. She was convicted for manslaughter and she was given a jail sentence which she served. There is a court injunction stopping Ibinabo from parading herself as the AGN president. This is the copy of the judgment. I have it. Manslaughter has no option of fine. Her sentence was reduced from seven years to five years and we all know she went to jail. The judgment reads in part, ‘there is proof that she drove recklessly and caused the death of Dr. Sura Giwa contrary to the road traffic laws of Lagos State.’ She was drunk. How could this person be the face of AGN?”

The court injunction of 2011 and 2013 was forwarded to the presidency. The criminal conviction of manslaughter was sent to the presidency. The president is supposed to be a symbol of the supremacy of the rule of law. He disregarded the law in recognising Ibinabo as president of AGN. The president is now saying there is no law in this country. So the AGN has become an ethnic grouping. This is a professional body of actors. It is not a Niger Delta solidarity platform.

Some actors have even explained to me why they followed her. They said they were taken there on a fraudulent arrangement for her to use and get what she wanted. Would she really have approached me for a thing like that?”I have the data of every government house she has been to. No single chapter has seen a dime for running the guild. She went to Ondo State and she was given N500, 000. What chapter did she inaugurate in Ondo State? The guild wasn’t set up to go begging from one state government to another.”

Man trying to dig skull from grave in Osun gets stuck & dies (Graphic Photos)

An unidentified young man in Ilobu community, in the Irepodun Local Government Area of Osun State, met his Waterloo in the early hours of Wednesday while attempting to cut off the head of a corpse, buried in Tonto compound in the area.The suspect’s accomplices fled in terror after seeing half his body get stuck mysteriously in the grave. His death has generated concern among the terrified residents of the Ilobu community.

According to Saturday Tribune , the victim and his partners in crime allegedly came to Tonto compound in the early hours of Wednesday with a plot to exhume the corpse of an aged woman and sever her decomposed head, allegedly for ritual purposes.


A credible source in the community, who did not want to be named said
 that

 “this particular corpse was buried five years ago and the suspected ritualist attended the burial in Ilobu.There are indications that he did not dig the grave alone. What we discovered is that he may have been attempting to cut off the head of the corpse when something suddenly hooked him as he managed to force half of his body into the grave to cut off the head.He got hooked and died on the spot, a development which possibly compelled other ritualists to run away from the scene so that they may not be affected by the mysterious thing that killed (their colleague).”

While commenting on how the residents of Ilobu got to know about the incident, since it happened in the wee hours, the source said a woman who was hawking ogi (a local corn meal) early in the morning of Wednesday spotted the torso of the suspect sticking out of the grave and raised the alarm.

“His corpse was discovered around 6.30am and his head was covered in mud. The residents here alerted the police division in Ilobu and they later came to evacuate the body and put it in their van before taking him away."

When contacted, the Commissioner of Police in Osun State, Mr Ibrahim Maishanu, said he was aware of the incident, and that the police would conduct investigation to determine what led to the suspect’s death.

He said the police could not confirm that the suspect was a ritualist because of the circumstances surrounding the discovery of his corpse at a grave in Ilobu; that they would have to investigate the matter before giving any concrete information on the incident.

Airport cleaner at (MMIA) steals N242m from passenger's luggage, flees to the UK

A 26 year old airport cleaner, Chibuzor Onuegbe  is on the run after allegedly smuggled N242 million out of the baggage store of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) undetected. He has since relocated to the United Kingdom.

His accomplices, Ifeanyi Francis, his girl friend Chioma Obinabor and his elder brother Kalu Faith Onuegbe have been arrested for assisting the principal suspect to commit the crime and flee the country.

According to Saturday Sun,the stolen money was packed in a bag in US dollar denomination totalling $1.5million which belongs to a middle aged woman (names withheld).  She was said to have deposited the sum at the MMIA baggage room on October 30, 2013 for safe keeping.  She discovered that the money was missing when she wanted to pick it.

Face to face with his interrogators, Francis who claims to be an Engineering student at Government Technical College, Owerri, Imo State confessed that he never knew the content of the bag until he left the airport. In his words:

“I met Chibuzor early last year when I travelled to Enugu and we became friends. I am aware that he works as a cleaner at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos. Sometime in October, he called me that there is a job that he wants to execute and I will earn so much money.  I travelled down to Lagos with the excuse that I wanted to visit my sister who lives in Lagos.He told me that he wanted to smuggle out some abandoned luggage from the baggage store at the international airport. He gave me a bag containing old laptops and clothes. He also gave me a tag ticket which was attached to the bag.
The deal was that I would get to the airport as early as 6am and move to the baggage store and drop the bag.  I will tell the store keeper that I want to register the bag and will be back in evening to pick it up.As agreed on October 30, 2013, I went to the baggage store with the bag that already had a tag. The store keeper asked me to pay N300 for a day and N600, if I am to pick it the next day. I paid N300 and dropped the bag. Later in the evening as agreed, I came to the airport and picked the bag. When I saw Chibuzor, he told me that the deal did not work out, and that I will be repeating the same process.”

The next day as agreed, Francis went through the same process and dropped the bag. In the evening at about 7pm, he went back and picked the bag.

 “I discovered that the bag was unusually heavy.  Since I knew what was on ground, I pretended that it was the same weight. It was easy to pick the bag because I had a tag and a ticket.
I quickly moved and joined Chibuzor who was already with a taxi.  I asked him what was in the bag and he told me to calm down that I will get to know. We arrived his street and stopped in an area where cars were parked. He opened the bag; it was then that I realised that it contained bundles of dollar notes.
I was speechless because the amount was much. He told me that as a cleaner, he had access to the baggage room. All he did was to unlock my bag to which he had the key and transfer the bag of money into my own bag.  He told me to calm down that there is a lot to gain and that he needs to contact his friends at the airport before the money will be shared.  Those friends, he explained were the ones who gave him information that such amount of money was in the baggage room and the colour of the bag. He tried to close the bag and it was difficult, so he had to remove some bundles into another bag. We heard the voice of some boys coming towards us, so Chibuzor hurriedly left the spot and moved into their house. He forgot that he kept some money in the bag that I was holding. He rushed out and promised to call me for my share"

According to him, as soon as he got home chibuzor realised that I was carrying the naira equivalent of N60 million.

“I decided to keep that money since Chibuzor did not remember that it was in my bag.  He called me later in the night demanding the money. I denied and he told me that I have taken my share. He switched off his phone and till date, I have not seen or heard from him.”
Armed with his windfall, Francis travelled back to Owerri and invested his money into acquiring properties. “I bought two plots of land, and built 6 blocks of flat.  I also rented a nice apartment and furnished it to taste. I also acquired a pathfinder jeep. I do not know the whereabouts of Chibuzor, it was when they arrested me that I was told that he is in UK.”

Chibuzor promised to marry me- girlfriend

As soon as Chibuzor realised that he was a rich man overnight, one of the things he did was to date beautiful women.  One of such was Chioma Obinabor, who he met while he was travelling down to Owerri.She was also arrested by the police, when investigations showed that she assisted Chibuzor to acquire properties in Onitsha.

Chioma told Saturday Sun that since she was still single, it was not abnormal for a man to approach her for relationship.

“Sometime in November, I sat by his side on board an ITC bus heading for Owerri. We got talking and exchanged phone numbers. He also paid  my transport fare to Owerri. The next day he called me and invited me to his hotel room, it was then that he told me that he is a business man and that his office is at MMIA, Lagos. We chatted and ended up having sex and when I was leaving he gave me N20, 000 and promised to keep in touch.  Few days later, he called me again and gave me N50, 000 and our next meeting another N100, 000. We were so much in love and he told me that I am the kind of wife that he dreamt that God should bring his way.  I was happy, because at 27, I should be married.
“Also during Christmas period, he gave me N230, 000 for my shopping.  This year, he asked me to help him acquire a land in Onitsha. I was able to acquire 10 plots of land for N19 million at an area called ‘33’ in Onitsha.
He told me that he was travelling to UK and would go through Ghana. His explanation was that DANA airline goes to UK through Ghana. I never knew that he was running away.  I thought he was real, till the police arrested me. It was at the police that I was told that he is a cleaner at the airport and most importantly that he is 26 years old,” 

I was confused when I saw the money- elder brother

Also in the course of investigation, operatives of SARS invited Chibuzor’s elder brother, Kalu who is based in Port Harcourt. He was told that the police was looking for Chibuzor and pleaded with him to assist them over the theft.

Unfortunately, as soon as Chibuzor visited him with a bag full of dollars, Kalu decided to shield his brother from the police.

“After my visit to SARS, Lagos, I was determined to hand over my brother to the police. I even confided in my family members who told me that it is an abomination to be the one to expose my family member. I was told that if SARS should catch him, that he might be killed.
“Days after that visit, Chibuzor came and handed me the bag and asked me to keep it safe.  I was terrified but happy that God had remembered our family. I was so confused.
Three days later he came back and collected the bag and gave me N10 million. I also assisted him to acquire landed properties in Port Harcourt. He told me that he was travelling to UK to further his education and will be back very soon. I knew that he was travelling to UK, because he showed me his Visa.
“I am terribly sorry and willing to return everything that I got from him. If you were in my shoes, I’m sure that you will protect your family,"

We Haven’t Seen The Girls Yet – US Drones Take Photos Of Boko Haram Camps

Revealing photographs of Boko Haram fighters have been taken by United States manned and unmanned aircraft as American military and intelligence specialists intensified the hunt for Nigeria’s missing schoolgirls.
However, US officials have expressed frustration with the country’s inability to act on these and other fresh intelligence about the Boko Haram extremists who took more than 200 school girls captive and threatened to sell them into slavery, The Los Angeles Times has reported.
“Images from US surveillance drones and satellites over the last week has shown suspected bands of Boko Haram militants setting up temporary camps and moving through isolated villages and along dirt tracks in northeastern Nigeria,” the report quoted US officials as saying.
It said the Obama administration has shared the images with President Goodluck Jonathan’s government in Abuja. “But Nigeria’s security forces are hampered by poor equipment and training and have failed to respond quickly,” said a US official familiar with the growing search operation.
Meanwhile, mounting US frustration with the case spilled into the open on Thursday at a US Senate hearing where US officials complained of lack of decisive actions on what had been harvested so far.
“It is impossible to fathom that we might have actionable intelligence and we would not have the wherewithal — whether by the Nigerians themselves or by other entities helping the Nigerians — to be able to conduct a rescue mission,” said Senator Robert Menendez, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
“In general, Nigeria has failed to mount an effective campaign against Boko Haram,” Alice Friend, the Pentagon’s principal director for Africa, told committee members. “In the face of a new and more sophisticated threat than it has faced before, its security forces have been slow to adapt with new strategies, new doctrines and new tactics.”

Enyeama makes history, wins Africa player of Ligue 1 award

Vincent Enyeama became the first Nigerian, the first goalkeeper and first player from English speaking Africa to be named France’s Ligue 1 African player of the season on Monday.

Borno Villagers fight off Boko Haram gunmen,kill and Capture many

Residents of Kalabalge Village in Borno State on Tuesday fought off invading Boko Haram gunmen in an early morning attack, killing several of them with about 10 also caught alive.
According to Premium Times,the insurgents had repeatedly attempted to attack Kalabalge, an agro-nomad community near the Cameroon borders, but failed to gain entry into the village on each attempt.
A vigilante member told premuim times on phone

“We have told them (Boko Haram) that they cannot take their attacks to our village because, we have taken measures both security wise and spiritually to prevent them.They wanted to attack us just the way they did in Bama, Konduga and Damboa, but we got the wind of it and all of us laid ambush for them; when they neared the village, we opened fire using our Dane duns, double barrel rifles and bows-and-arrows, most of them who were shocked took to their heels, but many of them died, some that were injured have been caught alive and are with the security people as I am talking to you”, 

An official of the State Security Service who pleads anonymity confirmed the incident to reporters on phone.

“The insurgents tried to attack the village as at 5 a.m. of this morning (Tuesday) but the vigilante and some members of the village who got the hint of the attack laid ambush and were able to kill as many of them as possible, while about ten of them were caught alive; they also recovered two trucks from the insurgents"

Chibok school principal’s list had names of 60-year-olds as students – Onyeka Owenu

Renowned singer, cum politician, Onyeka Onwenu has revealed that the Principal of the Government Secondary School where Boko Haram attacked and kidnapped 300 students listed a 60-year-old as a school pupil.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily program, she said mistakes were made by the Federal, Borno State and local governments leading to the abduction of the school girls.
Ms. Owenu, a close associate to Nigeria’s First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan questioned why a 60-year-old would have been attending a secondary school and added that some imposters were posing as mothers of the Chibok girls during #BringBackOurGirls protests in Abuja.
In defense of the First Lady who had earlier questioned the School Principal and key officials of the Borno State Government over their role in the abduction of the girls, she said the First Lady would have led the protest if protesters had gone to meet her.
