Arsenal co-owner Alisher Usmanov has been said to be UK’s Richest man according to Sunday Times Rich List in 2013 – ousting steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal from the number one position.
Mr Usmanov, Who is 59, is worth £13.3 billion ($20.2 billion) according to the annual Sunday Times table — a rise of almost £1 billion ($1.5 billion) since last year. He over took fellow Russian Roman Abramovich – also an owner of a London Premier League club Chelsea – in terms of wealth, is worth £13.3billion according to the list. Mittal had been Britain’s wealthiest man eight years in a row, but has dropped to fourth on £10 billion ($15 billion) — with £2.7 billion ($4.1 billion) wiped off his value.Indian steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal retained a one-third stake in QPR after Malaysian businessman Tony Fernandes became principal shareholder in 2011. Mr Usmanov has been frustrated in his attempts to secure a controlling share in Arsenal in recent years, currently holding 30 per cent of the club along with fellow board member Stan Kroenke.
