DANIEL STURRIDGE HAS COMPLETED HIS 12MILLION POUNDS MOVE TO LIVERPOOL FROM CHELSEA

The England striker has penned a long-term deal with the Reds and will watch tonight’s game with Sunderland from the stands at Anfield.
Sturridge, 23, said: “I am humbled and happy to be here.
“Brendan Rodgers said he sees me here for a long time — and I also see myself here for a long time.
“I’ve not signed here to play for a couple of years and then move on.
“I’ve signed to be here for as long as possible. It’s a humongous club — for me, one of the biggest in the world.
"To have the fans and world-class players we have here is amazing.”
Sturridge also rejected claims that, before signing for the Reds, he had told boss Rodgers he would only play up front.
He admitted: “I see myself as a striker. I think I perform best there because my attributes, I believe, are best as a central striker.
“But I have played on the wing and have learned a lot doing so.
“I’d never refuse to play in that position and I’ve never demanded to play up front, either.
“For me, whatever the manager wants me to do I will do it and work as hard as I can for the club and the fans.
“I’ll try to put a smile on the fans’ faces and try to bring some success to the club — it would be amazing.”

Sturridge, who moved to Stamford Bridge from Manchester City in the summer of 2009, is now looking forward to linking up with top scorer Luis Suarez.
The new Kop No15 added: “To have him as a team-mate is great.
“He’s a very good player, very talented and rated as a one of the best players in attacking positions in the world right now.
“It’s good to be part of a team with him in and I’m sure we’ll be able to play well together.”
Sturridge scored 24 times for the Blues and earned his first England cap under Fabio Capello against Sweden in November 2011.
He also scored twice for Great Britain in the Olympic Games but has fallen out of favour this season and has not featured since Rafa Benitez became interim boss in November.
Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre said: “Daniel is somebody we’ve always had in our sights and somebody the manager has had huge interest in right from the start.
“I’m very pleased today that we’ve got the right player and the right deal. That’s what it’s always about.
“It was important to us that we did all of the work ahead of the transfer window in talking to Chelsea and the player and his representatives.
“We made sure we did that so we could have him hit the ground running in January — and here we are today on the second and we’re all done and dusted, so we’ll look forward to seeing him in a Liverpool shirt and on the pitch.”
Ayre will now focus on further strengthening Liverpool’s squad this month.
And he added: “Daniel is somebody Brendan identified in the summer, but it just wasn’t the right deal.
“Sometimes it’s right to wait, whether it’s Daniel or anyone else, and the same will apply through this transfer window.
“If the right opportunities present themselves for the right player at the right time, then we’ll do that business — but if it’s not the right deal or the right player, it won’t get done.
“We’ll always do what’s best for the long-term interests of the club and we’ll always aim to improve the group — and I’m sure we’ll do that this January.
