Akeem Rahman, Benita Nzeribe star in Corper Shon

CORPER SHON, a new television drama series, whose general objective is to mirror the challenges, dreams and lives of Nigerian youths who answered the clarion call for national service after graduation from tertiary institutions, is ready to hit the screens. The TV drama series from the stable of Stanword Media Productions and Vinesheild Ltd is set in a suburb town in South West, Nigeria. It stars Benita Nzeribe, Benedict Johnson and Sam Uche Anyamele in lead roles. Other ‘acting’ Corpers featuring include fast rising Nollywood talents Marshall Mbionwu, Rachael Isaac, Anita Duru and Onyi Eze. Also showcasing their skills are Hakem Rahman, who plays Alhaji jaiyeola — the fun loving and decadent landlord of the building housing some of the corpers; and Rita Anigbogu as Mama Ngozi, the town gossip.  The programme also features other indigenes making occasional appearances. The story revolves around Corper Ikechukwu and a prince who are posted to serve in the small town’s health centre. While Ikechukwu is an exemplary Corper; Prince is busy running after ladies. Meanwhile Melody serves in a private company, while Corper Sally — interpreted by dance sensation Meg Madu of the Stepryders fame — works with INEC. Alhaji Jaiyeola a local contractor and politician in the small town is having a sizzling romance with Melody and things will come to a head when streetwise Iya Sikiratu who runs a beer parlour finds out about his illicit affair. Corper shon television series aims to present the good, bad and ugly side of the National Youth Service, which sees many Nigerian youths traveling to different parts of the country in a bid to serve their fatherland. Produced by Stanley U. Okoronkwo and directed by AMAA award winning director, Andy Nwakalor, Corper shon is written by Destiny A. Mordy. Cool if you ask me, abeg space still dey.......
