My Deputy CPS was kidnapped to get to me, says Amaechi
Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State
Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers has said that the kidnap of Freddy Ndigbara, his deputy Press Secretary, by unidentified gunmen was to directly get at him because of his ability to freely express his freedom of speech and opinion on national issues at variance to the ruling party.
Amaechi made this disclosure on live political programme on Channels television last night.Amaechi wondered if kidnapping his aide would erase the fact that Nigerians are suffering under a bad economy where the naira has been so devalued that the exchange rate is now N215 to one US dollar.
He accused the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and federal government of being scared of the wind of change which his party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, has been preaching. He also claimed that the ‘change’ message is catching up like a wave across the country.
Amaechi alleged that PDP has been doing all it can to scuttle the use of the card reader by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) because the party has never won in a free and transparent election.
“If they believe in free and transparent election where the card reader would identify the owner of PVC why are they going court to challenge its use by sponsoring court cases against it.”
He dismissed the rumoured illness of the Major General Muhammadu Buhari, the APC Presidential candidate, explaining that since the election was postponed for six weeks, the APC flagbearer went to go the UK and is billed to speak at the Chatham House on Thursday on the policies of the party if it wins the coming election.
However, Femi Fani Kayode, the campaign spokesman of President Goodluck Jonathan campaign organisation who was also on the live Channels Television moments after said PDP was ever ready for the election and would defeat APC in next election.
He lashed at Amaechi for betraying his former mentor Dr.Peter Odili, alleging that, “Governor Amaechi wore one T-shirt for three when he was with Odili but has forgot where his is coming from”.
He accused Amaechi of locking up the courts in the state because of the fear that if the courts were open, he would he would be thrown out of power and put in jail.
Fani-Kayode said Amaechi cannot be talking about elections because he never won any election and only came to power through Supreme Court judgment.
Meanwhile, no word has been heard from the kidnappers on Ndigbara’s or have there been any news of his whereabout since he was kidnapped.
PM News learnt from a family source this morning that the Ndigbara’s phone fell off his pocket as the kidnappers were bundling him into their Toyota SUV Highlander.
Security agencies have swung into action to ensure his quick release.
Mr. Ndigbara (popularly called Freddie), works with the Government House Press Unit. He was kidnapped yesterday at a ward rally of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Kaani 1 (his community), in Khana Local Government Area of the state

Ill-fated bus conveying the women
Mrs. Ruby Benjamin, deceased
The
11 women leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that died in a
motor accident along the East-West Road on Valentine’s Day will be given
a mass burial. Checks by Daily Sun revealed that the decision to
conduct mass burial for them had been made known to their families. It
was gathered that the decision was reached following the inability to
identify the corpses.
According to investigation, the victims
were burnt beyond recognition and former deputy governor and coordinator
of the Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN), Bayelsa State
chapter, Werinipire Seibarugu and other officials of TAN, who visited
the scene immediately after the accident collected the ashes and
unidentified skulls of the victims to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC),
Yenagoa.
Some of the family members who had earlier rejected the suggestion of a mass burial later agreed when it was explained that the possibility of conducting a deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) test would take up to six months.
Mr. Ambrose Ayebakuro, the 33 years old son of the late former House of Assembly member, Ruby Benjamin, confirmed that the family had been contacted on the decision to hold a mass burial for the deceased.
Also speaking, Mr. Mathew Utolor, the Chief Accountant of Bayelsa Broadcasting Corporation and husband of one of the deceased, Mrs Ayakpo Utolor, said it was sad that the families could not identify the bodies of the victims.

Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta, Kingsley Kuku, has described as tragic the accident that claimed the lives of 11 female politicians from Bayelsa State last Saturday.
Kuku, who is also chairman of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, said in a statement signed by his Special Assistant and head of Media, Mr. Daniel Alabrah, that he received the news with shock and a deep feeling of loss.
Commiserating with the Bayelsa State Government, the people of the state and the families of the deceased, he said their demise was very painful and a huge loss to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) family in the state.
“This sad news came at a time everyone was working hard to ensure victory for the PDP in the general elections. The positive contribution of these women to the development of their state and the country will be sorely missed, ”he said.
Kuku prayed God to comfort their families and grant them the fortitude to bear the loss.

Father of baby who won PZ's Baby Moment competition cries out after wife took another man to represnt him at competition
In
an interview with Encomium mag, Oluyinka (above) said he and his wife
separated a while back and she moved out of their matrimonial home. He
said to get back at him, she took another man, her younger
sister's husband, to pose as the father of his daughter during the
finale of the competition. He said he got his daughter registered for
the competition but that as the little girl was advancing in the
competition, she shut him out. I got a copy of the mag and typed out the
interview. See it after the cut
"Yes I started it all, got my daughter registered, got her a professional photographer, personally worked and also employed a PR person who worked tirelessly for her on the contest. I knew she would win. I often told her so. I sometimes even rehearsed how she would be announced the winner and yes she did win, all the glory to God. Myself and my wife had a serious misunderstanding which led to temporary separation but I never ignored or denied the fact that the baby she's carrying is my daughter. I am still responsible for her upkeep even till now. She called me and said "Your daughter Morireoluwa Davids needed a two minute video for the next stage of the competition". That was when I knew she made it to the third stage. And I was like so because she needs a video and her father is a cinematographer, that is why I am getting to know my baby had gone this far in a competition I registered her. Meanwhile shortly before this, during my daughter's first birthday, I ordered a big customized cake, clothes and toys for her. She turned the person I sent to deliver the stuff. I was embarrassed and deeply hurt. She was so rude and mannerless. She said so many things to me. I still have her message saved. So I told her to go and get the video done elsewhere for our baby because she only had to tell me because some of my staff she asked without my permission turned her down" he said
Oluyinka
said what his wife did by bringing another man to represent him at the
finale was clearly a case of impersonation & blamed the organizers. (Pic of the man his estranged wife took along above)
"Impersonation. That is what it is and it is punishable under the law. I had a misunderstanding with my wife so she probably thought she could get at me by taking someone else along as the father of my child, not realizing the consequences. I blame PZ! Why? Because they claimed she told them she was having a misunderstanding with the father of the baby and when eventually someone showed up, they didn't confirm before they addressed him as Mr Oluyinka Davids as published in The Nation Newspaper February 9th 2015"he said
"It feels terrible to be impersonated. Especially because I know the guy. His real name is Dehinde Olayokun. He is married to Boluwatife Olayiwola Olayokun who happens to be my wife's youngest sister. She and her immediate elder brother, Dayo Olayiwola, with some boys had harassed and beaten me up in my house which is one of the reasons my wife and I are having a misunderstanding"he said
Oluyinka says his lawyer is working to seek legal redress.
His wife, Mrs Funmi Davids when contacted via phone told the magazine...
"It is better you sleep around than the cheap job you think you are doing. If you ever call my number again, you will regret your life".
Meanwhile the management of PZ Cusson
speaking through its brand manager, Seun Ayeni, say they see the matter
as a domestic one and do not want to get involved
"We have spoken to the lawyer of the biological father of the baby, Mr Oluyinka Davids and we do not want to get involved in their domestic issues. Our lawyer is already handling the issue and we are okay with that" he said

“Five police officers were shot. One of them is dead and four are lying in critical condition at this hospital.” he saidChannels TV staff who was stabbed is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital. A Police van was also set ablaze. Above is an exclusive pic I got from the scene...
'Patience Jonathan, Wike behind blasts, gunshots at APC rally - Rotimi Amaechi
The DG of the APC Presidential campaign organization and
Governor of Rivers state, Rotimi Amaechi, has accused the first lady,
Patience Jonathan and the state PDP Governorship candidate, Nyesom Wike
of organizing the disruption witnessed at the APC Governorship rally in
Okrika, the village of the first lady earlier today. Gov Amaechi made
the allegation while speaking with newsmen after the APC leaders meeting
at the Shehu Yar'Adua center earlier today
"Clearly, the wife of the president does not want APC to campaign in Okrika, her local government area. The wife of the president and the governorship candidate of the PDP in Rivers again organised thugs to disrupt APC rally.
As usual, the police couldn’t protect us, over 200 police men. I asked the commissioner of police and he said they had over 200 policemen there. Yet, three explosions and then they opened fire on members of APC. The Channels TV reporter I hear, is injured, stabbed, and members of APC injured. We had meetings with DSS (Directorate of State Security) and police and they confirmed we could go ahead. There were 200 policemen and there were over 20 to 30 DSS men who came there and they did nothing"he said.

Naira hits N213 to dollar at Bureau De Change, black market
A dealer, who preferred anonymity, told NAN that the depreciation might not be unconnected with the closure of trading at the interbank market by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). The dealer also said that the CBN’s decision, which was meant to control speculations in the market, might be responsible for the depreciation.
Meanwhile the naira against the pound sold at N307 and N314 at the BDCs and black market respectively. However, it exchanged against the euro at N235 at the BDCs, while it sold for N237 at the black market.
On January 28, Godwin Emefiele, governor of the CBN, directed that only BDCs and banks with genuine demand for foreign exchange should get forex allocation. He said the apex bank put up measures to calm the strong volatility observed in the forex market to save the naira from further depreciation. It increased the weekly supply of dollars per BDC operator from 15,000 dollars to 30,000 dollars and also set aside extra 30,000 dollars to the BDC sector. The banking sector regulator said the move was part of measures to deepen the BDCs segment.
Horror as two die in Ibadan community “soak-away” pit(Photo)
Tragedy struck in Oremeji, Ibadan, Oyo State, recently when two
middle-aged men died in the process of evacuating a “soak-away” pit.
The duo, Wasiu, a bricklayer and Solomon, a vulcanizer (surnames withheld) had been employed at No 12, Sobande Avenue, Oremeji, to evacuate a soak-away pit at the back of a two-storey building when the fatal accident occurred, they went into the pit and never came out.
They had applied chemical to the last vestiges of the waste when Solomon entered to continue evacuation, but got weak due to heat and the strong smell of the chemical. It was said that Wasiu, who later tried to rescue his colleague also died in the process.
He said it was however, unfortunate that the police could not do anything to rescue them: “Efforts are already in place to get relatives of the deceased as preliminary investigation goes on.”

When Daily Sun got to the scene of incident, residents who knew the two men had stormed the area, while some policemen were seen speaking to neighbours in the area. The lifeless bodies were also found laid on the floor by men of the Oyo State Fire Service, who had rushed to the area in the hope of rescuing the two victims. The two who were allegedly hired by the landlord and tenants had resumed duty early in the morning when the incident occurred. It was gathered that the two had employed a pumping machine to suck out the first set of waste.
They had applied chemical to the last vestiges of the waste when Solomon entered to continue evacuation, but got weak due to heat and the strong smell of the chemical. It was said that Wasiu, who later tried to rescue his colleague also died in the process.
“It was not until 10am that the third person working with them came with pipes and found out that they had died in the pit. He was the one who raised the alarm,” said Adeseun Okunade, a neighbour.Oladimeji Akamo explained that Wasiu and Solomon must have accepted to do the job due to the poor financial situation affecting most artisans in the state, since it was not in their line of trade. Another woman who was being consoled was heard crying that Wasiu had a wife and three children and was reluctant to take the job.
“He said he was at Ijokodo when people came to tell him someone familiar to him had drowned in a soak-away pit: “I just rushed here to meet the policemen on duty and we were asked to wash their bodies.”
It was gathered from another resident who did not want his name in print that the mother who was brought to the scene had been taken away, having been told her son only sustained minor injuries and had been rushed to the hospital. When contacted, the the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Adekunle Ajisebutu, who confirmed the report said detectives were immediately dispatched to the scene on getting the report.
The whereabouts of the landlord and tenants are still unknown, as the building has been deserted since the incident occurred.
He said it was however, unfortunate that the police could not do anything to rescue them: “Efforts are already in place to get relatives of the deceased as preliminary investigation goes on.”

A bride was brutally beaten by her husband on their wedding night
because he couldn't undo her dress. Amy Dawson was pinned to the floor
by Gavin Golightly just hours after tying the knot.
The 22-year-old had asked her new husband for help getting out of the white dress she was wearing when he launched the violent attack.
Miss Dawson, who shares a child with the man, said the attack was so severe she thought it would kill her.
He was given a 12 month community order and a restraining order preventing him from contacting his wife.

2 Month-Old Baby Dies While Spending The Night At Mom’s Friend’s Home
Trina Whitehead, 31, of Cleveland, told The Associated Press
that she and the girl's mother were best friends and that she never saw
anything in the girl's behavior that concerned her. Whitehead said her two
daughters, who are 8 and 7 years old, previously stayed the night at the
friend's home in suburban Wickliffe without any reported problems.
She said the 11-year-old seemed like a normal, sweet girl.
"I definitely trusted her," Whitehead said.
"I never thought my baby would be put in some type of harm."
The 11-year-old has been charged with murder and is being
held in a juvenile detention center. A judge entered a not guilty plea for the
girl on Monday and has ordered a psychiatric evaluation.
The Associated Press is not naming the 11-year-old girl or
her mother because of her age.
Wickliffe police say the girl awakened her mother at about
3:30 a.m. Friday holding the unconscious infant, Zuri Whitehead. The
2-month-old died during surgery about six hours later. The medical examiner has
not released a cause of death, but police have said Zuri received extensive
head and internal injuries.
Whitehead said the 11-year-old's mother called her around
9:30 p.m. Thursday and said they were close by and that they wanted to keep
Zuri overnight. The girl and her mother thought Whitehead deserved a break from
caring for the infant. Whitehead said she almost declined the offer because it
was so late and she was not prepared, but she relented when they insisted.
The two women met in 2008 while working in the medical
clinic at the Cuyahoga County jail and remained fast friends, Whitehead said.
They consider each other sisters. The girl's mother has called to apologize,
Whitehead said.
"She called and said she's sorry for what
happened," Whitehead said. "She can't believe what's going on."
Whitehead said she tried to shield her other children from
their baby sister's death, but they have nonetheless learned what happened.
Whitehead's 7-year-old and 4-year-old son began kissing the television screen
when one of the local stations aired Zuri's picture, she said. She has been
trying to keep herself busy preparing for Zuri's funeral on Saturday while
relying heavily on her faith.
She called Zuri, which means "beautiful" in
Swahili, "the most perfect baby ever."
FG Hacked Into The Mobile Phones Of Tinubu, Saraki, Lai Mohammed, Amaechi – APC
The All Progressives Congress has accused Federal Government
security agencies of hacking the mobile phones of a former Governor of Lagos
State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu; Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State, Senator
Bukola Saraki, its National Chairman Chief John Odigie-Oyegun and its National
Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed. The party also says it’s fully aware that
the PDP led Government is planning to arrest some party leaders as the
elections approach and they are also fully aware that their lives are in
danger. Read the statement after the cut.
“As the elections
approach, we know the harassment and intimidation will be stepped up. We know
our leaders, including the National Chairman Chief John Oyegun, National Leader
Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Gov. Rotimi Amaechi, former Gov. Timipre Sylva,
Senator Bukola Saraki and National Publicity Secretary Alhaji Lai Mohammed, are
under surveillance and their phones being hacked.
“We are aware that several of them, especially the National
Publicity Secretary, have been marked down for arrest in the days to come. We
know there are evil plots to frame some of them on trumped-up charges. We know
our lives are in danger. But these and more will not deter us from continuing
to act in the national interest or from seeking to effect change through the
ballot box.
“Yes, we are alerting Nigerians that if anything happens to
us they should know where it is coming from, but for us there is no going back
because we are resolute,” it said.
They also thanked Nigerians for their support so far,
especially since the postponement of the elections which was aimed at dampening
the enthusiasm of the citizens, and urged them not to relent.
“We are glad that instead of weakening the resolve and
enthusiasm of Nigerians, the Presidency-orchestated postponement has further
galvanized them to be more determined not only to vote but also to defend their
votes.
“Nigerians must demand and insist that the elections be held
as rescheduled, that there will be no interim government or tenure elongation.
Nigerians have the power to forge change with their voter’s cards and no one
must deny them that right,” the statement said.
The party called on President Jonathan to remember the verdict of history and call his people to order, stating that history will judge no one but him even for the actions of his supporters.
Wickedness! Bar Manager Sets 13-Year Old Attendant On Fire For Allegedly Stealing His N1500
The Ogun State Police Command is presently searching for a
bar manager, Mr. Bidemi Shittu, who allegedly poured petrol on his 13-year-old
attendant, Ezekiel Emmanuel, and set him ablaze.
It was gathered that the manager took the action because the
teenager reportedly stole N1,500 from him. The incident happened in the Akoka
area of Ibafo, Ogun State, on Monday, February 9.
A Punch correspondent gathered that the runaway suspect, Bidemi,
who is married with children, was the manager of Golden Fingers Bar in the
area, while Emmanuel was one of his attendants.
Our correspondent learnt that Bidemi, who had accused
Emmanuel of theft on Sunday, allegedly tied the teenager’s hands and feet in a
room in his bar till Monday, waiting for him to admit the offence.
It was gathered that on Monday, at about 11.30pm, Bidemi brought
Emmanuel out to the front of the bar, poured petrol on the boy and set fire on
him.
Our correspondent learnt that some residents, who were out
at the time, rescued the victim.
They were said to have rushed Emmanuel to a private hospital
in the area where he was initially treated before he was referred to the Lagos
State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, Lagos, the following day.
Punch Metro learnt that the matter was reported to the Ibafo
Police Division, and the policemen sealed off the bar.
However, it was gathered that the suspect, Bidemi, fled
before he could be arrested.
When our correspondent got to the area on Thursday,
Emmanuel’s uncle, Mr. Toyin Olayemi, said the boy was rejected by four
different hospitals before he was eventually taken to LASUTH.
He said, “Emmanuel’s father is not around. He went to his
hometown in Ekiti because he fell ill. On Tuesday morning when they told me
about Emmanuel. I rushed to the private hospital and I saw him on the bed,
severely burnt from head to abdomen.
“He was working on part-time basis in the bar, although
Bidemi did not pay him any salary. Emmanuel is also learning generator repair
at a workshop. I was told that the manager accused him of stealing N1,500.
“Despite pleas from neighbours that they would repay him, he
waited till everyone had gone to sleep and brought out the boy and burnt his
body.
“The private hospital asked us to take him away the
following day. We went to about four government hospitals which rejected him
before we came to LASUTH.
“Since that Tuesday, they have not allowed us to see him.
They said he was still under observation. The suspect too has run away. We
learnt that a policeman in the Ibafo division tipped Bidemi off to evade
arrest.”
When our correspondent visited the suspect’s father, Pa
Shittu, he told PUNCH Metro that the most important thing was for the victim to
get well.
He said, “My wife went to check the boy in the hospital. The
doctors did not allow her to see him, but they told her that he was responding
to treatment. I have spent about N150,000 on his treatment.
“I have not seen Bidemi. I don’t know his whereabouts. He
has refused to pick my calls. The most important thing is for the child to get
well.”
When our correspondent got to the private hospital in Ibafo
where Emmanuel was initially treated, the doctor said he ensured that he was in
a stable condition before he was transferred.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Muyiwa Adejobi,
confirmed the incident.
He added that the police were intensifying efforts to arrest
the suspect.
He said, “The suspect poured petrol on the boy for stealing.
He maltreated him, tied his hands and feet, and set him on
fire. The boy is still in the hospital and the suspect is presently at large.
“But the police will arrest the suspect.
“This act is not only criminal, but also barbaric. We are intensifying efforts to get him and we will.”

Jordan Pilot burned to death ‘was so heavily sedated he had no idea what was happening'
According to Dailymail, a report in Saudi Arabia's burnews.com claims ISIS militants admitted giving Moaz al-Kasasbeh drugs so that he did not scream as flames consumed his body during his grotesque execution.
Jordan has struck back hard following the circulation of the video last week, hitting the militant group's territory with 56 air strikes in three days and executing two ISIS-linked prisoners.
Burnews.com reports that Kasasbeh's apparent resignation to his fate, as well as his apparently heroic stoicism as his petrol-soaked jumpsuit burst into flames, was due to heavy sedation.
He had been married to his wife for 5 months before going to battle in Syria |
'It is important to note that [Kasasbeh] seemed unconscious and unaware of what awaits him and not, as some have said, that he is not afraid,' the site quotes these observers as saying.
However, those who watched the video have disputed claims he was sedated..Some say he wouldn't have been able o stand if he was indeed sedated and others said they heard him scream.Others say ISIS are trembling over Jordan's revenge mission and want to make them feel better..

ISIS Hostage Kayla Mueller's Touching Letter to Family During Captivity
After Jordan's revenge strikes against ISIS,the militants claimed
American female hostage ,Kayla Jean Mueller was killed during one of
Jordan's airstrikes ..
Many feel they probably killed her and tried to pass the blame on Jordan ..Today, her family said it had received confirmation that she died while being held by Islamic State militants. The Mueller family also released a touching letter it said she had written last year. So sad....
If you could say I have "suffered" at all throughout this whole experience it is only in knowing how much suffering I have put you all through; I will never ask you to forgive me as I do not deserve forgiveness. I remember mom always telling me that all in all in the end the only one you really have is God. I have come to a place in experience where, in every sense of the word, I have surrendered myself to our creator b/c literally there was no else.. + by God + by your prayers I have felt tenderly cradled in freefall. I have been shown in darkness, light + have learned that even in prison, one can be free. I am grateful. I have come to see that there is good in every situation, sometimes we just have to look for it.
The gift that is each one of you + the person I could + could not be if you were not a part of my life, my family, my support. I DO NOT want the negotiations for my release to be your duty, if there is any other option take it, even if it takes more time. This should never have become your burden. I have asked these women to support you; please seek their advice. If you have not done so already, (REDACTED) can contact (REDACTED) who may have a certain level of experience with these people. None of us could have known it would be this long but know I am also fighting from my side in the ways I am able + I have a lot of fight left inside of me.

Everyone, If you are receiving this letter it means I am still detained but my cell mates (starting from 11/2/2014) have been released. I have asked them to contact you + send you this letter. It's hard to know what to say. Please know that I am in a safe location, completely unharmed + healthy (put on weight in fact); I have been treated w/ the utmost respect + kindness. I wanted to write you all a well thought out letter (but I didn't know if my cell mates would be leaving in the coming days or the coming months restricting my time but primarily) I could only but write the letter a paragraph at a time, just the thought of you all sends me into a fit of tears.

I miss you all as if it has been a decade of forced separation. I have had many a long hour to think, to think of all the things I will do w/ Lex, our first family camping trip, the first meeting @ the airport. I have had many hours to think how only in your absence have I finally @ 25 years old come to realize your place in my life.
I am not breaking down + I will not give in no matter how long it takes. I wrote a song some months ago that says, "The part of me that pains the most also gets me out of bed, w/out your hope there would be nothing left." aka_The thought of your pain is the source of my own, simultaneously the hope of our reunion is the source of my strength. Please be patient, give your pain to God. I know you would want me to remain strong. That is exactly what I am doing. Do not fear for me, continue to pray as will I + by God's will we will be together soon. All my everything,
Kayla

He's Smart,Educated..Experienced-Obasanjo Endorses Buhari
Speaking at the launch of My Watch in Nairobi, Kenya on Tuesday, Obasanjo, who served his two terms as president under the same Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) platform that Jonathan is now running on, condemned the postponement of the election.
“The circumstances [Buhari] will be working under if he wins the election are different from the one he worked under before, where he was both the executive and the legislature – he knows that,” he said. “It’s a question of leadership – political and military. “He’s smart enough. He’s educated enough. He’s experienced enough. Why shouldn’t I support him?”On the postponement of the election he said:
“The signs are not auspicious. I don’t know whether a script is being played.”He criticised the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan, accusing him of wasting the country’s resources
. “You need to ask [Jonathan] how has he let [the army] go to this extent,” he said “Many things went wrong: recruitment went wrong; training went wrong; morale went down; motivation not there; corruption was deeply ingrained; welfare was bad.” When asked if he was still nursing further political ambition, he said: “I am an old man and I’m enjoying what I’m doing now… And then you forget I am a farmer; I have to manage my farm.”

A 45 year old father of four Abubakar Magaji, a resident of Liman Kagum
in Bauchi local government has been arrested for dealing his daughter
severally. The accused who was ashamed to lift his head told VM ....
When we visited the residence of the suspect at Liman Katagum, a suburb of Bauchi metropolis, a neighbour to Abubakar who did not disclose his name, said that he was shocked to hear that Abubakar was arrested by the police because he defiled his daughter. According to him:
“I engaged in the ugly act because I had a misunderstanding with my wife and she left me. I am ashamed of my self because it was temptation that led me to do it.I divorced her mother and married another wife but unfortunately my wife also left me a month ago so I needed a woman to be with; so that was why I did it. I also have a problem with my sexual libido. It is so terrible that I desire any woman I see, but what stops me from approaching them is that people respect me as a married man. So I felt the only way I could relieve my sexual tension was to sleep with my daughter, since she is so young and had no knowledge about sex.
“It was after I defiled her and I was arrested by the police that I understood the gravity of my offence. I can’t imagine that I did this to my own daughter. I regret my actions and I pray that God will forgive me”.

She said,
“Before, the detectives promised to take us to the Commissioner of Police, but they did not, and later, they said they would take the case to court. We refused that because we know if the matter gets to court, my daughter may not be found again.Blessing appealed to the authorities and Nigerians to assist the family in securing Precious’ release.
“The kidnappers are no longer asking for money. Sometime ago, I called my daughter and she said I should stop crying, that I should be praying for her. Since that day, the line has remained unreachable.
“Another line that we tried, a man picked the call and said it was all business. He started to abuse us and insult the family, before giving the phone to another woman, who said we can go ahead and do whatever we wanted to do because she was not the one that kidnapped her from Lagos and that she only bought her from the kidnappers.”
She claimed that some of the suspects in custody had links with the kidnappers and that they had been using their lawyers to threaten the police.
She said,
“Some of the suspects were arrested in Imo State and they know the kidnappers. But nobody is doing anything about my daughter.”
